10-12 year school student athletes hoping to qualify for School Sport Australia Track & Field Championships (10-12 years) progress via their school athletics carnival to districts (independent or state school) then to Sunshine Coast Regionals (UniSc Track). Top three regional athletes for each event will compete at the 10-12yrs State Championships at QSAC, Nathan Brisbane. From here, top three athletes for each event, will compete in the School Sport Australia Track & Field Championships, state location varies annually.
* 10 -12 years school athletics championships at State & National level are hosted by School Sports.
13 – 19 year track & field
2023 is an interesting time for 13 -19 years school athletes. In previous years, school students hoping to qualify for the Australian All Schools Championships would progress via their school athletics carnival to districts (independent or state school) then to Sunshine Coast Regionals. Placing 1st or 2nd at the Queensland 13-19 State Championships would qualify the athlete for the Australian All School Championships. Queensland School Sports are still running a QLD 13-19 State Championship in October, at QSAC, Nathan Brisbane. BUT this is NOT an Australian All Schools Championships qualifying meet!
In 2023, school athletes can only qualify for the Australian All Schools Championships by placing 1st or 2nd at the QLD All Schools Athletics Championships being held 2-5 Nov at QSAC, Nathan Brisbane. Also, there are no extra qualifying standards.
This is meet is also a qualifier for the Australian Junior Athletics Championships. Athletes placing 1-3 or achieving an AA qualifying standard will receive an automatic entry. Application through QA will still be required.

Previously, the Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships was run in conjunction with the Australian School XC Championships. Athletes who qualify in both QLD teams needed to choose if they represent QLD Schools or QA.
